Connecting Funders and Changemakers Through Shared, Consent-Based Data

PDC Exchange is a web application built on the PDC framework that allows funders and changemakers to share grant-related data efficiently and transparently. Designed to demonstrate how interoperable, consent-driven data can strengthen philanthropy, Exchange connects to the shared data in the PDC Framework to enable funders to discover high-impact organizations and changemakers share their work more efficiently, all through a trusted, shared data infrastructure.

What Exchange Can Do

Exchange demonstrates what is possible when the philanthropic sector operates with aligned data standards, secure APIs, and a commitment to reducing burdens on nonprofits.

The current functionality includes:

  • Data sharing: Up-to-date, standardized, consented information 
  • User access controls: Permissions aligned with PDC governance 
  • Search & filter: find organization that match funding priorities 
  • Structured interactions: Request additional details or follow-up 
  • Notification: Receive updates on new or relevant information

How Exchange Works

Consent

Changemakers explicitly consent to data sharing from other systems in the sector where they are sharing their data and that data becomes available for them in PDC. Exchange allows changemakers to leverage that consented data to amplify their visibility and needs to a larger ecosystem of funders while keeping them in control of access.

Management

Changemakers always control access to their data and can have their data flow through the PDC’s governed data across PDC data categories to the other organizations as they wish. Rather than manual or ad-hoc re-use of data used in other funding opportunities, changemakers can direct data flowing into the PDC directly out to new funders and opportunities securely. 

Connection

Funders can view and find accurate, timely, and reusable data from participating organizations and other systems, offering more visibility and creating a more equitable and discoverable landscape for changemakers to be seen and their work to be supported. Funders can provide information to changemakers on their funding priorities and have structured interactions to spark new relationships to move the collective work forward together.
