Join the Philanthropy Data Commons®

Share your organization’s information once, control how it is used, and help build a more connected funding ecosystem.

Welcome, and thank you for being here. You have been invited to participate in the Philanthropy Data Commons® (PDC) by a grantmaking organization, data platform, or sector partner that believes in the value of more connected, collaborative philanthropy.

The PDC is shared infrastructure for the social sector. It helps foundations, nonprofits (“changemakers”), and their technology partners share data securely and on their own terms — reducing repetitive reporting, strengthening collaboration, and making it easier for your organization’s information to flow where it’s needed (and where you want it to go). The PDC connects systems that already exist; it doesn’t replace them.

Your data, your terms — always.

Consent sits at the center of everything we do. The PDC does not bring in any data about your organization — public or private — without your knowledge and explicit agreement.

We’re in an early and important phase of building this infrastructure. The organizations that join now help shape how it grows for the entire sector.

What Participation Looks Like
With your consent, the PDC can bring together data about your organization from across the sector, including public 990 filings, grant applications, and other information you choose to share. This helps reduce duplication of data entry, strengthen your organization’s visibility, and support easier data-sharing with funders and data partners. The PDC infrastructure is designed to support organizations of every size and technical capacity.

Getting Started
Joining the PDC is a simple four-step process. Here’s what to expect:

1

Tell us you’re interested
Complete the short intake form below to let us know your organization wants to participate. Submitting it gives the PDC team what they need to prepare your Data Use Agreement (DUA).

The form takes just a minute and asks for:

  • Legal name of your organization
  • State of incorporation
  • Official mailing address
  • Name, title, and email of your primary signatory

By submitting this form, I am expressing interest in participating in the Philanthropy Data Commons. This form does not enroll my organization in the PDC or authorize data sharing.

2

Review the Data Use Agreement
After you submit the form, the PDC team will prepare and send your DUA — the document that governs how data is handled, protected, and used within the PDC, and that allows your organization to withdraw at any time.

3

Confirm your participation
Once the DUA is mutually signed, your organization formally joins the PDC. Welcome to the PDC!

4

Work with the PDC team on data sharing
After the DUA is executed, the PDC team will work with you to identify the right pathway for sharing your data — directly, or through a participating funder, platform, or partner.
